Charge It – one of the most successful packet tricks of all time – is back, with a modern update.
You display the four Aces and make a bet with the spectator that you will turn each Ace face down one after another, without them noticing how it is done.
With no visible sleight of hand, you turn one Ace after the other face down and show the red backs of the cards.
With a wink, you point out that the spectator already owes you four bets. But your offer is tempting: double or nothing!
You visibly remove one Ace and put it aside. Do you dare to bet that you can secretly return the Ace to the other three Aces – without the spectator noticing anything? And indeed, the fourth Ace suddenly reappears in the packet!
But the grand finale is still to come: you remark that the spectator can of course also settle the bet cashlessly.
To the spectator’s great astonishment, you show the backs of the cards – now transformed into the logos of today’s common payment methods:
Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo (or Bitcoin)!
The effect is very easy to learn, requires no sleight of hand, all cards can be checked at the end and is therefore perfectly suitable for beginners.
